The SEA Teacher Program (Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia) is a project initiated by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), an organization established in 1965 that brings together Southeast Asian countries to promote cooperation in the fields of education, science, and culture among its member states.
The SEA Teacher Program is conducted to enhance the quality of education in Southeast Asia through the exchange of teaching experiences and knowledge among pre-service teachers from various countries in the region. This program facilitates education students to undergo internships or teaching practicums in other Southeast Asian countries. The SEA-Teacher Program aims to:
Foster a sense of unity and cultural tolerance, broaden students’ perspectives on educational practices in other countries, and build positive international relationships.
Enhance the quality of education, where students gain learning experiences in other countries that enrich their teaching methods and provide insights into different educational approaches that can be applied in their home countries;
Support cooperation among ASEAN countries in the field of education, thereby contributing to the region’s social and economic development;
Develop professional teaching skills through classroom teaching experiences and deepen students’ understanding of cultural diversity and educational systems in other countries, enriching their skills and perspectives;
