International FAQ

  • I don’t have a valid passport or visa. What should I do?

You should make arrangements to lodge your passport or visa application as soon as possible, as applications are currently taking much longer than usual to process. Make sure that you have received a letter of acceptance (LoA) from Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana). The application process for submitting a student visa through the Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education in Jakarta will be assisted by the International Relations Office (IRO), Undana. After your Study Permit is issued, the Directorate General of Higher Education will forward it to the Immigration Department Head Office in Jakarta, so they can issue your visa.

Information regarding Student Visas is available on the Directorate General of Higher Education website (https://studyinindonesia.kemdikbud.go.id/web/page/read/applying-for-a-study-permit). Please contact IRO for further queries at iro@undana.ac.id

  • I want to accept my offer. What do I do?

If you wish to accept the offer from the University you must complete the ‘Your Agreement with Undana’ form, pay the semester tuition fee, and have international health insurance as stated in the offer letter. Once this documentation and payments are received the relevant documentation will be sent to you to apply for your student visa.

  • How can I pay?

Tuition fees can be transferred to the Rector of Undana via Bank Mandiri, Indonesia. You will need to have your student number ready (located under the first paragraph of your offer letter) and record the receipt number.

  • How many online courses can I study when I am in Kupang?

If you hold a student visa you can study a maximum of 30% of your program online and you must enroll in at least one face-to-face course in each teaching period (semester) unless it is your last course. This is only for postgraduate students.

  • Am I able to work with a student visa?

If you are holding a student visa, C316, you are not allowed to work in Indonesia.

  • Where can I find more information about changes to a student visa?

Within 30 days of your arrival in Indonesia with your Entry Visa (VITAS), you have to go to the Immigration Department so that you can receive your KITAS (temporary residence permit). Although the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration has an online facility for KITAS applications, you still have to go to the Immigration Offices in person to make the fee payment and receive the KITAS Stamp on your passport. Also, you can contact IRO if you need assistance with your application.

  • Health cover

As a foreign student, you must have health insurance. One type of insurance that you can use is insurance provided by the Indonesian government, known as the Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Social (BPJS). For more information, please visit the BPJS website (https://bpjs-kesehatan.go.id/bpjs/index.php/pages/detail/2014/20).

  • What are the accommodation options?

On campus – Student accommodation

The Undana campus is safe, affordable, and convenient. Undana has two student accommodations, known as Rumah Susun Mahasiswa (RUSUNAWA) as a choice for foreign students to live during their studies. Those are located at Penfui (main campus) and Walikota

Out campus – Rental and house sharing

If you are over 18 years old you can rent your own place (kos-kosan) or share it with friends or housemates. This can be a fun way to meet new people. IRO will assist you to find rent place around the Undana campus

  • How do I book accommodation after I’ve accepted my offer?

You can ask the IRO for help in providing recommendations for temporary housing in Kupang. However, it is recommended that you come directly to Kupang and search for a rental place around the campus that fits your lifestyle.
